A. Eligibility: Anyone age 18-30 years as of July 1, 2010 or currently enrolled in film school is eligible to enter the contest.  Filmmaker must be an amateur, with no experience in a professional capacity, such as being employed on film/TV projects completed and distributed for public exhibition, either from established studio companies or through independent companies that have sold or licensed such projects into distribution.

B. Prizes:  The first place finisher will receive a cash award of $1,000 with his/her film shown in the Orlando Film Festival.  Additional prizes will be awarded for second and third place finishers.  Equinox will air limited length clips from all three finalists on its web site.  Equinox reserves the right to not make awards if submissions do not meet our standards of excellence.

C. Submissions:  Entries must be formatted to DVD with a minimum length of 10 minutes and maximum length of 60 minutes. They must focus on a Florida nature topic.   

All submissions MUST BE postmarked by July 1, 2010 and must include the following:

D.   Shipping:  The cost of shipping submissions to the Young Filmmaker Prize competition will be the responsibility of the entrant.  Shipping must be prepaid.

F. Selection Criteria:
All entries will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of representatives from Equinox Documentaries, the Orlando Film Festival, and an independent judge.  Judges will consider a film’s:

Equinox reserves the right to reject a submission found to be objectionable or offensive. Entrants must not break any laws, defraud the Sponsor, endanger anyone, cause damage to the personal property of others, or cause injury to any animals and/or the environment in the process of creating the film.  Entries must not infringe on the copyright, trademark or other rights of any individual, business or organization.  Any copyrighted material or music CANNOT be used without permission or acknowledgement. 

G. Release:
By submitting your screening copy, and in exchange for being considered in this competition and the publicity attendant to the festival events, you grant permission to Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival to allow your work to be promoted by Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival for the 2009 festival, screened during the festival in public theaters where admittance tickets may be sold without compensation to you, and posted online for an indefinite period. You affirm that you hold sufficient rights in your work to make this submission and grant this release to Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival, and you indemnify Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival should the festival be claimed liable for such permitted use of the film.

You also affirm the screen credits and billing on the film (and any other related materials you furnish) are accurate and reflect proper releases from those named. Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival are also released and will not be held liable for any mistakes that may occur in the display or reprinting of the screen credits. The winner and all entrants in the Young Filmmakers Prize grant permission to Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival or its authorized agents the right to print publish, broadcast and use worldwide in any media and at any time the entrant’s name, picture, image, likeness, biographical information, statements, quotes, testimonials, and information about the entrant’s film school without further compensation to the entrant. 

Equinox Documentaries or its authorized agents maintains the right to reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, display, and exhibit at any time any Program or derivative works that are developed using material and images associated with the Prize contest.

H. Indemnity: You indemnify Equinox Documentaries and the Orlando Film Festival (and their respective officers, agents, employees and representatives) against all costs of defense and liability should the festival be made a defendant in any claim arising from the submission and/or exhibition of your film. You may withdraw your submission at any time, but this indemnity shall continue to apply from the date of submission through the life of the copyright of the film.
